Have you ever had one of those work meetings
where the boss says things like,
"Ask yourself, Why are you valuable?"
Well, we did today,
It makes me think things like
"Maybe we aren't doing a very good job."
I say we, because I work very hard
and I'm confidant my contributions are valuable.
But then I think,
"Maybe I am doing it wrong."
I work hard at what I do,
and I push myself to be better than my co-workers.
I work ahead.
I accomplish tasks that need done
without being told to.
I began training myself in PHP
so that I could write automated tests
before they taught us how.
Among other things
I've set a pretty good pace for myself.
I consider myself a valuable employee,
but how do I know if my boss agrees?
How do I ask for constructive criticism
without sounding like a suckup?
What was your first 'professional' job?

Just ask!
My first professional job experience was teaching. I needed a lot of guidance on the paperwork so I wish I had been more of a self-starter like you.
