This is basically a photo-dump of just a few of the pictures we snapped during our epic trip of the north-west! I look super chubby in all of these pictures. Just remember, I'm pregnant and I have a short torso.
Our drive through Oregon was stunning. We opted to take the "scenic route" so that we could see some of the beautiful waterfalls Tyler remembers from his childhood.
We stayed the night with Tyler's uncle Scott, who lives in Battleground, WA.
We spent the morning with Scott, visiting all the touristy places.
Battleground is just gorgeous, and Mount St. Helens is just an hour and a half away. It was huge, and we enjoyed the backdrop to all of our driving.
We went down to this river, which was (apparently) really low. It was really fun hiking around the rocks that were so smooth from the river.
Scott even convinced Tyler to take a swim.
That water was cold!
We also so this very very old water mill and bridge.
In the afternoon we went in to Portland to have a look around.
Zap didn't love the city- cars and bikes zooming past, lots of loud noises from traffic - so he hitched a ride in my purse.
We didn't have long, but we made sure to stop by Powell's, which is a huge used/new book store.
Apparently, it's the biggest. I can't remember if it's supposed to be the biggest in the country or just the biggest in the north-west. It was big.
We each picked a book to take as a souvenir!
Whilst traveling, Zap usually likes to sleep. This time around, he made a habit of sleeping on pillows.
If the pillow wasn't on my lap, it was on the huge pile of luggage in the back seat, so Zap would climb up there and sleep.
It was adorable.
After Portland, we headed north to the Olympia are to stay a few days with Tyler's Grammy Smith.
Grammy lives in Brinnon, which is a tiny town sitting on the Olympic peninsula.
She had an amazing view from the house, and it was fine to watch the tide come and go all day.
I thought I took a picture but I can't find it!
While we were there, we got to pick wild blackberries so that Tyler and Grammy could whip up some blackberry jam for us to take. Score!
We finally set out on the last leg of our trip - heading back east to lake Gillette for the annual family camping trip. Even though we refer to it as the Gillette trip, we actually stay on lake Thomas.
We drove up to Seattle and took a ferry across Puget Sound.
After a very long day of driving, we arrived at Lake Thomas (near Coleville, WA). We set up our little tent and settled in for a week of camping. Our camera had died somewhere between Seattle and Spokane, but that's fine, since I looked grubby AND chubby all week.
This year, due to my current medical condition (known as pregnancy), I was banned from dirt-biking. I still had a great time hanging around my in-laws and riding with Tyler. We also did alot of jet-ski riding (since I was still allowed to do that) and a bit of boating.
It was a fun trip, but I can't imagine doing all that driving (or camping) with a little baby! I guess we'll figure that one out next year.

Beautiful! You guys are freaking cute and I am soooo jealous you went to Powells.
Gorgeous pictures. I love the northwest! I want to go on one of these trips with you and see all the waterfalls and rivers. Just gorgeous.
Just get a backpack and take the baby! :) I have 4 friends here that just had babies...one had her third, two had their 5th, and one who had her 6th, and they all just went camping this past weekend. They keep teaching me what I wimp I am! These people that take their babies with them probably have much better behaved babies than I ever did. :)
Also, you look CUTE. Not chubby.
