36 weeks

I was bad this time around, and did all of my baby prep (nursery, washing clothes, packing hospital bag) back at like 30 weeks.  That leaves me with nothing to do for the next four weeks but wait.  I'm a super nazi about housework because I don't want to go in to labor and be behind on the laundry, or have dishes piled in the sink!  For the most part our house has been really clean lately.
I have stretch marks this time.  They showed up around 34 weeks and get worse and worse.  I thought I was home-free after zero stretch marks with TJ.  The only thing different this time is that I have another child, so maybe all that bending and carrying is what contributed to the stretch marks?

Symptoms include the usual: major waddling, soreness, and heartburn.

The baby is sitting extremely low, just like TJ.  At my appointment I was "a good" 1 centimeter dilated and 70% effaced, but since I got to almost 3 cm before I went in to labor with TJ, I'm not reading much into it.

However, my fundal height is measuring small, so my doctor ordered non-stress tests every week for the remainder of my pregnancy.  It's a huge pain, but anything to keep this baby healthy!  My guess is my amniotic fluid is a little low because I've been dehydrated.  After the first test we will know better what is going to happen next.  This doctor also said he didn't think I should go much past 39 weeks without an induction, which I'm a little dismayed about, but since I see a different doctor every time (boo for EIGHT doctors in the practice!) I am looking forward to a second opinion.

i feel like it is weird to say but you look so much more like a MOM in your photos! but just as beautiful!, really!

you'll have to keep me true here, but it's true that your pregnancy with TJ was pretty "normal" yes? i ask because I'm just curious about your relationships this go 'round with your doctors. obviously you have a different doctor/practice since you moved. and now that you have the experience of one pregnancy behind you, how has that helped you prepare, "shop" for a doctor this time 'round? did you like something better with your previous doctor? etc...
and i feel like i should know this but what does "fundal height" mean?
now that i know what being pregnant is like I know of some things I'll definitely be doing things differently with baby #2 (when/if that happens).

I had to have weekly NST with Helena too....she never kept still long enough! what a pain, but you do what you gotta do!

I honestly didn't shop this time around. In rexburg, I had a practice with 3 male doctors. It was the only practice in town and I had no choice. However, the birth rate in provo is insane, so there wasn't a single practice within a 45 minute drive that had only one doctor. I just picked the one closest to me. I would take 3 doctors over the 8 I have now in a heartbeat. I tried to switch to midwife care, but midwives wont see me because I'm high risk.

As it turns out, I was high risk with TJ too, but I guess nobody realized it or nobody bothered to tell me. This time, my GI doctor told me I was considered high risk (all of my pregnancies will be) and recommended a course of action, which I followed aggressively with my OB's. Especially since I had a bleed in the first trimester this time.

Fundal height is the height of your uterus. I've had mine measured at every appointment with both pregnancies! But if you don't ask, the doctor probably wouldn't mention it's called fundal height.

I like non-stress tests, it's forced relaxation and generally the nurses bring me snack and drinks because my blood sugar is always low. Ha!
