My little brother Hunter is leaving on his LDS Mission to Lyon, France today. He'll spend two weeks in the MTC (Missionary Training Center) in Provo, UT then should ship out to France if his visa comes through. Hunter studied French in high school, and his best friend lived in France for a number of years. This call is just perfect for him in every way and I am so happy for him.
Hunter is missing Logan's wedding by two weeks, which is sad but okay. You know? Logan's fiance, Lindzi, is visiting Albuquerque and it was great to get to spend a little more time with her. She is super cute and such a good sport about playing ridiculous games with us.
I was so glad I got to go see Hunter off this weekend! Tyler took Friday and Monday off of work and partied with the boys. He left this little gem on facebook, and I think that gives us a pretty good idea of how the weekend went. He's super dad.
I flew in Friday night. Everybody came to party, which was so much fun. On Saturday we went to see the new borrne id movie (I was very underwhelmed) and played games ALL afternoon. After a yummy Dions dinner, I made everybody come in and play a competitive game of Scene It - Skousens vs. Huddlestons vs. Wolfs. To be honest nobody can hold a candle to Logan when it comes to Disney knowledge so we were pretty much killing it. It was a total blast.
We went to the grocery store to get food for the Sunday family gathering and got hit by one of those crazy desert flash floods. I loved it. There is just nothing like a desert rain storm. I finished up the night by staying up late late late talking.
Sunday was busy. We got up and prepped food for after church, then we all went to church. Hunter and Haley both talked and it was just so great to have three pews completely stuffed with family members.
We came home and had lunch with everybody. I took tons of pictures for my Dad, incidentally they are all on his iPhone so you'll just have to make do with the six I remembered to send to myself.
That night Hunter was set apart as an Elder for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It was such an awesome thing to be there. I'm going to miss him for the next two years! Hunter is the funny, easygoing one of the bunch. Everybody loves him because he is so friendly and kind. He's going to be an incredible missionary!
I can't say enough how happy I was to be there. I missed Logan's farewell and it's something I've always regretted.
We are finally reaching that happy stage in life where we are all friends. When we were little I never believed it would happen but I'm glad it did. I miss these guys already! On a side note, I am the shortest sibling!!!! It is so unfair. I'm 5'8" and still the shortest. My family is gigantic. I mean look how small I look in this photo!
My flight home was Monday morning at 6:20 am! It was brutal. I slept the entire way except when the darn flight attendant woke me up to ask if I wanted a drink. No ma'am, I would rather sleep! I was super happy to see my sweet kiddos again. It was only three days away and that was just about right. I had a really fun time but it is so weird not to have my mini's following me around.
