home in utah

Last month, Tyler and I went on three dates.  That's more than the entire summer combined!  Our fancy date was to law-school homecoming.  It's called the Founder's Day Dinner, and it's actually hosted by the alumni so there weren't an inordinate amount of students there.  We had three different people snap pictures for us because we just couldn't get a cute one.  Most of them look like this -
 Or this -
Yikes.  Anyway, it was a fun dinner and we felt all fancy.  It was fun to dress up!  We left the kids with a sitter, and it was Eli's first time really being put to bed by someone he didn't know.  He did not like it and has been traumatized all week.  He freaks out whenever we walk out the door, or if we let anybody he doesn't know hold him.  I feel bad that we scared him so much!

Besides being overwhelmed with new people (meaning people they don't remember), the kids have been so happy to be home.  They love that we go outside to play every day.  The weather here in Utah is just gorgeous right now.  It's cool but not cold.  Everything is still green, but the tops of the mountains are turning yellow and red with Autumn.
Coming back to Utah, I love it here.  I wasn't crazy about it before we lived in Texas, but right now I am just crazy about Utah.  The weather, the activities, the scenery.  I never liked living in Rexburg, but after we moved I realized there was so much I missed about it.  I think this is like that.  I'm glad we get at least another year here, and hopefully I'll appreciate it!
It is good to be home.

You look beautiful, fun date! I still don't really do baby-sitters at bedtime. Either they come over after I've put them down or we have them stay up until we get home. it's just easier. And yes, Utah is great. I miss it a lot.
