birth class and other things

We finally packed our hospital bags this week.
That was a little overrated.
Packing the diaper bag and installing the car seat, however, was not overrated.
I can't believe our little boy is going to come home with us so soon!

I'm also agonizing over his coming-home outfit.
It has short sleeves, and its freezing here.
I don't want the nurses to think I'm a bad mamma who doesn't dress her baby for the weather,
so I packed lots of blankets to snuggle him in his car seat.
But still, short sleeves...

Our laptop was having issues, so we decided to try upgrading to windows 8.
Upgrading.  Hah.

We started looking in to doggy booties for the puppy.
We found Ruffwear Dog Boots.
I'm sorry, but who pays $60 for shoes for their dog?
We tried outfitting Zap with some of the baby socks instead,
but they were too big for him.
I guess he's out of luck.

We went to a birthing class yesterday.
It was an all day class, and boy it felt looong.
Some of the information made me super terrified for delivery, but mostly I feel much more prepared.
I wish we would have done a birthing class earlier, because some of the pain management techniques are awesome and knowing about them has alleviated my fears about losing control and fighting labor.
It makes me feel much better that we'll have some tools to get through the pain.
Plus, Tyler is an awesome coach.
We got to tour the hospital, which was awesome.  It's reassuring to know what to expect and where we'll be during the birth/recovery process.
It was totally worth the $45 fee - I feel like I'm ready to have a baby! (Maybe not bring him home, but at least push him out).

Whenever I walk too much or take the stairs I start contractions.
Friday night after grocery shopping and Saturday after our hospital tour I had about an hour of hard contractions.  They feel like real contractions but maybe they are just braxton hicks?
They are 10-45 seconds, 3-4 minutes apart.
But I know it's not true labor.  I guess it's like everyone says- you just know when you are in labor, and I just know I'm not.  But at 37 weeks, it could be any day now....maybe...
Anyway, it's a great opportunity to practice the pain management techniques we learned.

Happy Sunday!

I wish I had had some techniques with Noah. We took a class with Isaac but I never felt one contraction with him so everything I learned I sort of forgot. But then when I couldn't get an epidural with Noah I was scrambling to remember anything that would help take away the pain. I'm glad you did that!

Why didn't you feel anything with Isaac?

I had an epidural before I felt contractions.
