I woke up with a super duper sore throat. No buildup, no achy-ness or scratchyness over the last few days, just *BAM* pain. But I had to go clean this morning. Wwon't use bleach, but ammonia is okay. Felt great inhaling that all day.
And then I went to class.
And then I skipped devotional.
And then the runny nose started.
And now the trashcans are all starting to look like this: (full of tissues)
And you know I'm sick when I stop bothering with dishes. (Hah, you were wondering when this post would have something to do with the title!)
Maybe this doesn't look that bad. But I am RELIGIOUS about loading my dishwasher. I use it, rinse it, put it in. Period. We NEVER have dishes on the counter. Thus no giant stacks of filthy, rotten-smelling dishes, ever. Food doesn't have time to get dried on so cleaning is pretty easy. And Tyler is getting trained to load his dishes right away. If I come home from classes to find stuff in the sink, he's super busted.
But I haven't loaded any of my dishes all day.
I don't even care. Today. I probably will tomorrow.
But I did look at pantries! And fonts!
I love fun fonts! My favorite are the DJ fonts (DJ Doodlers, ect ect.), which my mom bought a disk of several years back. Then lost. So they never got downloaded onto my laptop. Which is TRAGIC. Anyway, as I was delving into the world of pantry makeovers today, I saw a little something on the House of Smith's blog. http://www.dafont.com/ and 1001freefonts.com. Been finding fun ones to download instead of doing homework. Now I'm blogging instead of doing homework. Isn't this fun?
What did we learn this week?
Summer is addicted to reading blogs. I find a bunch of blogs on one subject (saving, organizing, cleaning, cooking, ect) and go on blogging binges.
Today was pantry day.
Now I wish I had a real pantry, because I want to re-do it. I have 3 cupboards that hold food stuff right now, and I've been slowly adding containers to my collection so it's all cutesy and stuff. Maybe I'll post about it.
Anyway,
I'm crazy.
And I feel terrible.
I want to go get tested for strep, but it's only been one day.
And the stupid student health center is a pain in the butt to use with insurance and I don't want to pay for an appointment out of pocket.
And it's only been one day.
Oh, yes.
Back to dishes.
At least do them once a day, people. There is nothing more vile than unearthing rotting fruit and curdled milk in a huge pile in the sink (both of which I find on a weekly basis now). I feel like it's my life duty to convince everyone to stop being lazy and do their dishes.
I do the dishes from cooking, but Tyler has to rinse and put away whatever he uses for eating (or if he cooks his own meal, that stuff too). I'm totally planning on making our kids learn to do this too. Load your own dishes.
But hey,
easier said than done, right?
I think doing other peoples dishes is worse than doing your own, because you don't know where the mess came from.
My dishes: "Hey, this funny-smelling stuff is from the Indian curry we had the other night! No big deal."
(What? I've never even had Indian curry. I guess that statement if fictional. But you get the point.)
Other people dishes: "OHMYGOSH that is a SUPER nasty-looking green thing cooked onto this pot! I do NOT want to touch that. Ewwww it smells weird!" Maybe it was a green-bean. Maybe it was a bacteria colony. I'll never know.
When did this blog turn into a vent for my job frustrations?
Sorry people. Maybe it's because house-cleaning is so close-to-home. Heh heh. See what I did there?
Don't be mad about my bad jokes.
Or my novel of a post.
I'm sick.

wow...serious ranting going on for a sick person! totally kidding (sorta). i'm totally with you though on the clean the dishes stuff. you just gotta do it, and for the most part they usually don't take too long. Chris unfortunately doesn't have this habit. i'm working on it.
feel better soon!
Tyler doesn't either. He HATES it. But he was SOOO good today about cleaning up for me... maybe he saw the post. ;)
Yeah. Until you have to do dishes by hand, I don't think you're allowed to rant about dishes. You have a dishwasher, niece. I'M the one that gets to rant about dishes. I do them once a day, after dinner, and it kills me that there are dishes in the sink all the way until dinnertime, but doing dishes by hand takes a long time and I am not about to spend my whole day at the kitchen sink.
The people I clean for- I do their dishes by hand. Which is yucky. But only once a week.
You're right, I am lucky enough to have a dishwasher at my own house which is SO nice.
