a smith adventure

We had planned on a long week-end with Tyler's sister in Logan, but since we were both sick, it ended up just being a day trip.

On the way down, I was going a little fast in Pocatello and got my first speeding ticket. Awesome.
What did I learn?  Cops in Idaho are way nicer than cops in New Mexico.

Despite the road stop, we still made it in time for Larry and Arlene's talks on about serving in France.  It was super fun to see family!
We drove up around the temple since, for memories sake. :)
Then we went to visit Leinani, Tyler's sister.

Obviously I did a great job of taking lots of pictures.

On our way home, we decided to do a little driving around in the gorgeous mountains.
We were checking out cool campsites and stuff, and we saw a little trail off the road.
I was a little nervous, because their were huge ruts in the road, and it was muddy from raining, but Tyler still thought it was okay.
So we drove on in.
It was pretty short, and dead-ended at a fire-pit.
We started backing out, and got about half-way to the road
before
we got stuck.

Tyler got out and pushed while I hit the pedal, but we were stuck good!
No cars were coming,
and AAA said that the towing service wouldn't cover us since we were off of the paved road.
The fee would be $120, and with my recent acquisition of a speeding ticket, that seemed a little steep.

We were stu-uck.
We said a quick prayer,
tried one more time,
and the car got rolling.   We got all the way out!
And just as we did, a couple of guys in a big F-150 pulled up.  Sometime even Heavenly Father sends a backup plan.

We were so grateful.  Miracles totally do happen!

This is what Tyler's family calls a "Smith Adventure." (i.e. where something doesn't go as planned, especially while on a trip)

On our way back down the mountain, we found a cute little sign I just HAD to get a picture with.
(sorry...I was having trouble with the uploader so you get a sideways pic)
And here are some terrible pictures of the mountain we got stuck in.
Blurry or dark.  I don't know what the problem was.

Today was spent relaxing and taking it easy.  We took a short little trip to Idaho Falls,
and now I'm dreading starting school tomorrow.

Thank goodness for holidays now and then!
Hope you enjoyed yours.

I love that you don't have a picture of the stuck car or the family or anything...but you do have a picture of the sign! And it's SO cute.
