On Monday, we went for a hike with Aunt Cassie. My kids had a blast following their cousins/uncles around and getting rides on their shoulders! I was SO grateful the boys helped, since Tyler was off riding with his dad. They surprised us at the end of the trail which was lots of fun!
We spent so much time on the dock and on the lake. Eli's favorite thing was swimming in the cold water! He'd swim right out into the lake and keep on going as long as he could. TJ liked riding - boats, jet skis, anything that could go fast.

The other thing TJ loved was fishing! He would follow his big cousins out on the dock and fish with his little fishing pole and get so exited about the plastic fish on the end of it every time he reeled it in.
Tuesday, the thing I remember most is falling down! The hill to the lake is steep, and Eli slid and started going in head first. I went after him and got some vicious scrapes. Eli, of course, was fine!
The offending hill:
More boating!
Wednesday (I think?) we went to the lodge. They have a walk down beach that is much more fun for swimming. One of the big boys saw a fish so TJ spent most of his time trying to see it again!
TJ trying to be just like his cousin. I love this picture because they are both smiling, eyes closed...so cute!
They have a big water trampoline anchored at the lodge! We all had fun jumping, but I loved snapping this picture of my cute sister-in-laws.
While we were there a grandma and a big group of her grandkids (I assume) paddled up on various watercraft. My kids were crazy about it and wanted to take the boats out!
My kids were wiped out every day by nap time, but they still skipped naps almost every day! It was so frustrating but there was so much to do I can't blame them. We all slept hard at night, and even I was in bed by 9:30 every night but one.
Since Eli barely napped, he crashed while riding a four-wheeler on our way to pick huckleberries one afternoon.
We went with my sister-in-law, Tracy, her kids, and my nephew RJ. After Eli woke up, Tracy let him try a huckleberry and that was it - he had to eat them all.
He and I lagged behind the group and every time we found a bush with berries he got SO excited. It was really fun. When we went too long without finding a bush with berries, he started eating out of what I had picked! As a result, I had the worst take home batch by far. It was so worth it.
There is also a wild raspberry patch up there. It was mostly bare but Eli and I found a few to snack on.

The victorious pickers!
Towards the end of the trip, we took an epic family drive up to Radar Dome. It's an abandoned military outpost with several dilapidated buildings that are perfect for exploring. The kids wasted no time throwing rubble into various holes.
Here is our crew! We are missing Cassie, who had to leave on Tuesday, and my sister-in-law Christy's family. When we were setting up for the picture, TJ went right up by the motorcycles to claim his spot!
I love the lake. It is just beautiful, and it was more than I could have hoped for to have so much of the family we loved there! We left on Friday, but we spent a few more days in Spokane before we went home (see part 3!).
