brush with fame

First off:  this isn't a brush with fame.  It's a brush with a well-known community member.
Really, it's basically the same thing.

Now, down to business:
This morning, I was standing in the hallway, when President Clark and his wife walked by.  His wife stopped to talk to the lady I was with (by the way, sister Clark from New Mexico like me, and President Clark is from Washington, like Tyler.  Just saying).  While she was chatting, I said "Hi president Clark!"  in a very excited manner, because, here in Rexburg, he's kindof a big deal, and everyone knows who he is, since he is the dean of BYU-Idaho.

He cocked his head to once side and a look flickered on his face that said, "Do I know you?" and "How do you know me?"  And then looked at his wife.
To clarify: he didn't actually say anything.

Let me explain how I addressed these perceived questions.

"Do I know you?"
In my head, I said, "Ya! It's me, Summer! You know, I go to your school!"  He doesn't know me at all.  I just feel like I know him.  Which I don't.  At all.  I'm one of 13,000+ students.

"How do you know me?"
I genuinely feel like he shouldn't be surprised that random people know his name.  If I was a well-known person, I'd be like, "Heck yes you know who I am! I'm so cool!"   In my head to President Clark, I was said, "Duh!  You're the president of my school!  I see you every week at devotional!  I think you're great."

I didn't say anything.  Which is good, because both of my responses are pretty idiotic.  So instead, I just smiled and stood there, feeling silly.  I kept seeing him throughout the morning, and every time he passed me he gave me a funny look.

Maybe he could read my thoughts.
I hope not.

Funny. When I met Sheri Dew at BYUonce I just stood there looking at her and smiling. So embarrassing.
