I was thinking today.
About how much I love it up here.
It is green and the mountains are high, the rivers are wide,
it's so very scenic.
But then I remembered my lovely desert home
and it made my heart ache
for Dion's pizza and Kiva juice
and stunning dusty sunsets.

| Excuse the blur. I can't take a decent shot to save my life. |
I don't know where we'll end up.
I've seen so many new places in the last year,
like Washington and Montana and Idaho.
So different from the New Mexico, Arizona, and Utah I grew up in.
I have a feeling that,
desert or mountains,
wherever we settle
I'll always miss the other place a little.
And I hope we settle away from big cities.
Albuquerque was just the right size.
Any bigger is too much people!
Are you happy where you are?
Where do you want to go?
Thanks for humoring me.
I'm studying for finals.
It brings out my crazy, you know.

we missed you guys at the cabin--you and tyler are gonna have to come next time you are down here! and i LOVE NM sunsets, can't beat 'em.
Do good on finals!!
Love, Mom
Oh, I love sentimental posts! And I agree it is so beautiful once you get up north. I think we want to be wanderers and live in a lot of places before we settle down..and I think we would settle in the desert. :) I would die if I didn't get to see those stellar sunsets on a regular basis.
it's so overwhelming thinking about the "what-ifs". there was a time when i thought about leaving Denver, but I knew I didn't want to go back to ABQ..and thinking about all of the possibilities was just TOO much. so i bought a house instead.
like you i've seen so much in the past year as well: Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas...(all courtesy of Chris, of course!)definitely a handful of states I never thought that I would see.
Chris is definitely looking to advance in his job, and although we would both love to stay in CO, the chances of a move within the next 12 months I would guess are pretty high. Thankfully we both have the same taste in where we would want to go and where would NOT want to go. It's fun to think about but again so overwhelming.
good luck with finals!
I would love to end up in Dave's hometown (Benicia, ca) but wherever it is, I hope it's close to lots of family.
I loved reading all of these! thanks so much guys.
Em- I'm like you, I want to be close to family. But that puts us in New Mexico, Utah, or Washington. So ..who knows?
April- Colorado is one of our "compromise" states, because Tyler and I have such different taste in where we want to be. Where will you be moving to?
Jana- I would love to be in New Mexico. It was such a great place to grow up! My husband, unfortunately, is dead set on mountains. (I continue to wear him down though...)
Who knows Summer? That's the big What-If. It just depends if a job opportunity comes up and if it is the RIGHT job fit for us and our family.
That's the nerve-racking part. Not knowing, but wanting to plan. Colorado truly is ideal for us and to start a family. We're 450 miles from ABQ and 400 miles from his family in Kearney, NE. So we're literally right in the middle.
I regards to your comment about Tyler wanting mountains...last I checked ABQ has mountains?!
He says real mountains have more tree's. He's a stinker.
he needs to ride the tram then or we need to go to the back side of the mountains.
